Bausch & Lomb is an American company based in Rochester, New York, specialized in medical optics. Its core businesses include soft and rigid gas permeable contact lenses and lens care products, and ophthalmic surgical and pharmaceutical products. The company was founded in 1853 by John Jacob Bausch and Henry Lomb. It employs approximately 12,400 people worldwide and its products are available in more than 100 countries.

ReNu with MoistureLoc

On April 11, 2006, Bausch & Lomb stopped shipments of its ReNu with MoistureLoc contact lens solution when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found what appeared to be a high correlation between use of the product and cases of suspected fungal keratitis.

ReNu Litigation

A number of class action lawsuits have been filed against Bausch & Lomb and the estimated potential cost of this litigation could be in the billions. The market value of the company has been negatively impacted as a result of the ReNu litigation.
